Playing on Mac

Intel & Apple Silicon (M1 · M2 · M3)

The Zipangu v117 client is built for Windows, but it runs great on macOS through a compatibility layer like CrossOver or Wine. Follow the steps below — most players are in-game within 15 minutes.

1

Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3)? Install Rosetta 2 first

The Zipangu client is a 32-bit Windows program. On Apple Silicon Macs you need Rosetta 2 so it can run. Open Terminal and paste:softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-licenseIntel Macs can skip this step.
2

Install a Windows compatibility layer

macOS can't run a Windows .exe directly, so we use a translation layer. Two options:
  • CrossOver (recommended) — the smoothest for MapleStory. Paid (~$25) with a free 14-day trial. codeweavers.com
  • Wine / Whisky (free) — works well too, just a little more setup. getwhisky.app
3

Create a Windows “bottle”

In CrossOver (or Whisky), create a new bottle set to Windows 10. A bottle is a self-contained mini-Windows where the game lives. Name it Zipangu.
4

Download & extract the Zipangu client

Grab the client from the Downloads page (any of the three sources). Extract the files into a folder inside your bottle's C: drive — e.g.drive_c/Zipangu.
5

Run Zipangu.exe through the bottle

In CrossOver/Whisky, click Run Command (or just double-click the exe inside the bottle) and chooseZipangu.exe. Register a free account on the site, log in, and you're in Henesys — on your Mac. 🍎

Tip: If the game runs slowly, enable DXVK (DirectX→Metal) in your CrossOver/Whisky bottle settings — it makes MapleStory much smoother on Mac.
